The Johari - This new boutique hotel in Jaipur will take your breath away
Jaipur’s newest gem is set in the bustling heart of one of the city’s oldest markets, Johari (or Jeweller) Bazaar, from which the hotel takes its name. A five-suite boutique property with hand-painted murals, lattice windows and calming symmetries, The Johri opened doors in December 2020. A 19th Century home lovingly restored to capture the elegance of a bygone era for a new generation of travellers. The airy, light-filled interiors have been dressed with antique furniture, traditional textiles and Rajasthani art, marrying contemporary appeal and local flavour. Guests can dine in the seasonal and organic vegetarian restaurant, catch up in one of the cosy nooks or over the daily high-chai service, linger at the cocktail bar and unwind with yoga, meditation or a massage. The Johri is an ideal base to appreciate the city’s 2019 recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The carefully restored 19th-century building overlooks the colonnaded streets of the bazaar famous for its gemstones and fabrics, in one of modern India’s earliest planned cities. The Johri is a popular choice with Jaipur Literature Festival attendees. Chances are The Johri will exude much the same allure.
